Today’s Miracle Moment Is About the Big Shift That Changes How You Manifest..
What if you could dream boldly, pursue what your heart truly wants, and feel deeply happy—even before any of it happens?
So many of us have an invisible list of things we believe we need to manifest before we can finally relax and enjoy our lives.
When I meet my soulmate, then I’ll be happy.
When I reach that goal, then I’ll feel successful.
When I have more abundance, more recognition, or more certainty, then I’ll feel at peace.
But what if that list isn’t bringing you closer to happiness? What if it’s actually keeping happiness just out of reach?
Don’t worry—I’m not going to tell you to give up your dreams. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
Your dreams matter. The key is learning how to hold them in a way that allows you to be happy now.
The Two Happiness Myths That Keep Us Chasing
Happiness researcher Arthur C. Brooks has shared a practice he calls the “reverse bucket list.”
For years, he would write a bucket list on every birthday filled with everything he wanted to accomplish. But when he turned 50, he noticed something surprising: Even though he had checked off everything on the list he’d written at 40, he was less happy than he had been ten years earlier.
He realized he had fallen into the trap of believing that having more would make him happier.
In the research I conducted for my book Happy for No Reason, I found that two common happiness blockers keep people caught in this same cycle:
- The myth of more
- The myth of “I’ll be happier when…”
When you achieve something you’ve wanted, it may bring you satisfaction for a while. But that feeling is often fleeting. Before long, you’re back on the hamster wheel, pursuing the next achievement, possession, or experience you hope will finally make you happy.
The genuinely happy people I interviewed had stepped out of this cycle. They understood that lasting happiness doesn’t exist somewhere in the future.
It exists in the here and now.
The Reverse Bucket List
Arthur’s reverse bucket list practice is beautifully simple.
First, he writes down his goals and desires. He allows himself to acknowledge what he truly wants.
Then he crosses each one out—not because he no longer wants it, but because he is releasing his attachment to needing it for his happiness.
Both parts of this practice are important.
Many people are afraid to admit their deepest desires. They worry they’ll be disappointed if those dreams don’t come true. Or they decide that what they want is too big, unrealistic, or unlikely, so they stop themselves from dreaming altogether.
But I believe the dreams within your heart are sacred.
Your deepest desires can be messages from your soul, inviting you toward greater growth, expression, and possibility. You wouldn’t have that dream in your heart if it weren’t meant to guide you in some way.
When you acknowledge your dreams, you begin setting energy in motion toward their highest manifestation.
But here’s the important caveat: You don’t want your dreams to own you.
The belief that “I have to have this, or I can’t be happy” doesn’t support your happiness—or your ability to manifest.
Crossing an item off the reverse bucket list symbolically releases that attachment. It’s a statement to yourself and the Universe:
I honor this desire, but my happiness does not depend on it.
High Intention, Low Attachment
My dear friend and mentor Jack Canfield taught me a phrase decades ago that has stayed with me ever since:
High intention, low attachment.
High intention means allowing yourself to dream the dreams of your heart and soul without limiting what might be possible.
The soul doesn’t think small—and neither should you.
Low attachment means releasing the need for your dream to unfold in one particular way or according to your preferred timeline.
You and I are not the general managers of the Universe. We can’t always see the full picture, and we don’t necessarily know what will serve our highest good.
So, dream big. Take inspired action. Give your desires your whole heart.
Then loosen your grip on how and when they must happen.
That’s the beautiful balance: holding a powerful intention for what you want while finding your happiness in the present moment.
How Letting Go Helped Me Manifest My Soulmate
Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of being with my soulmate.
I remember looking into the night sky, choosing a lucky star, and praying that I would someday share my life with my husband.
Throughout my twenties and thirties, I searched for him. Then, when I was 41, I met Sergio, the man who would become my husband.
You might think that finally receiving the dream I’d wanted for so long would have made everything easy. But it didn’t.
Sergio and I deeply loved each other, but we also experienced many struggles. After ten years together, we decided to separate. We cared for each other, but our relationship simply wasn’t working.
During our time apart, I finally handed my dream of being with my soulmate over to the Universe.
I still honored my desire for a loving partnership, but I decided I would no longer depend on having a partner to make me happy. Instead, I focused on falling in love with myself.
I found the love and happiness I had been seeking inside of me.
After a couple of years on my own, I told a friend, “This is the happiest I have ever been in my whole life.”
Wouldn’t you know it? The very next day—and I truly mean the next day—Sergio called me out of the blue.
We had barely spoken during the previous year, but he told me he believed we were meant to be together and asked if we could try again. His 50th birthday was approaching, and he suggested we take a trip to India together.
At first, I thought the idea was crazy and said no. But the next morning, I realized that two of my favorite things in the world were being in India and being with Sergio.
So I called him back and said yes.
We’ve been together ever since.
We call this chapter of our relationship “Marci and Sergio 2.0” because it felt like an entirely different relationship—lighter, brighter, and filled with miracles.

It came from having a high intention to share my life with my soulmate, releasing my attachment to what that had to look like, and finding my own happiness in the present moment.
You Don’t Have to Wait to Enjoy the Dance
I believe life is a dance with the Universe.
You don’t have to wait for your biggest dreams to manifest before you enjoy that dance. You’re meant to experience it right now, in the midst of your life exactly as it is.
The more you focus on the love, beauty, and goodness already here, the more those qualities expand.
This doesn’t mean you stop dreaming. It means you stop postponing your happiness.
Try creating your own reverse bucket list:
- Write down your deepest desires without editing or judging them.
- Honor each dream as a sacred message from your heart.
- Cross each one out as a symbol that your happiness doesn’t depend on it.
- Ask yourself, “What can I appreciate and enjoy right now?”
- Continue taking inspired steps while allowing the Universe to handle the details.
Dream big. Hold your dreams lightly. And let yourself be happy along the way.
As Thich Nhat Hanh beautifully said:
“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness.”
What dream are you ready to honor—and hold with a little less attachment? I’d love to hear what “high intention, low attachment” means to you.
