Today’s Miracle Moment Is About Big Miracles from Small Acts of Kindness…
I want to share a story with you that I recently read about a young woman named Hannah who was racing against the clock to get some last hours with her mother before she passed away.
Hannah’s mom, Kathleen, was in critical condition after she got undiagnosed pneumonia that progressed into septic shock. Kathleen’s doctors had notified her family that she didn’t have much time left to live, so Hannah rushed to book a flight to a small airport in North Dakota where her mother lived.
But because of the limited flights to the small airport, the first flight she could get was on the following day, and each hour she had to wait was an hour she wouldn’t get to spend with her mom.
Once she was on the flight the next day, the plane’s takeoff was delayed due to technical issues. Hannah started panicking, because she had just a half-hour layover before her connecting flight in Minneapolis, and knew she wouldn’t be able to make it.
Hannah shared her situation with one of the flight attendants, hoping that there was some sort of solution, only to find out that her connecting flight had already been rebooked for the next morning.
Hannah broke down in tears, and felt so anxious thinking of her mother being alone through this. Well, Hannah’s story moved the flight attendant to tears as well, and she decided to go speak directly to the pilot to see what could be done.
The pilot was also moved by Hannah’s story, and so he called the dispatchers of the connecting flight in Minneapolis to see if they could possibly hold the flight, and… they said yes!
The whole crew was working together to get Hannah on her next flight so that she could have as many remaining hours with her mom as were possible. One person on the flight gave Hannah their seat at the front of the plane so that she could exit faster. Someone else got out airport maps to help Hannah find the fastest route to the gate. And others gave her caring smiles or words of encouragement.
When the plane landed, Hannah was escorted off first, and ran through the airport with tears streaming down her face. She was greeted at her new flight by a welcoming crew who got her to the airport in North Dakota safely.
Hannah was then able to spend the remaining hours of her mom’s life with her. Her mom passed away the next day.
Hannah said that each act of kindness from each person added up to give her one of the most important moments in her life – which was to be there with her mom.
I love this story, because it’s such an expression of how we’re all part of a greater web of miracles together.
So often, it’s easy to look around at the world today and think – what can I possibly do to help the state of things?
The answer is to listen to your heart. When you lead your life with an open heart, which is one of the foundations for living in the Miracle Zone, then the opportunities to be a miracle for someone else will knock on your heart.
We are all interconnected and the Universe speaks to us through our hearts and intuition. When you feel a nudge to do some sort of small act of kindness, you can trust that you’re being invited to be a miracle for someone else in a way you might not ever really know. It could be as simple as:
- Opening the door for someone
- Complimenting the person at the cash register
- Calling a relative out of the blue
It might seem small or insignificant to you, but you never know what part your small act of kindness plays in someone else’s miracle story.
And as you give, you receive, and you can also trust that the miracles energy you give comes back to you tenfold. And you will simply feel amazing from listening to what’s calling your heart and acting on it.
This week, I invite you to simply listen to your heart.
Notice when you feel a nudge to do something kind for someone else. And then, if you’re able to – do the thing, and notice how you feel afterward. You’ll probably feel a wave of miracles energy filling up your heart and brightening your day.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this – leave a comment and share what miracles you’ve experienced through giving or receiving small acts of kindness.
And I’ll leave you with a quote from Desmond Tutu:
“Do your little bit of good where you are. It’s those little bits of good together that overwhelm the world.”
Have a beautiful week!
A wonderful story ..so verrry true!
One person’s smallest act of any kindness can change your worst day…stay with you forever! Enlighten you to the fact that there is so much good in the world and in people when you might have just stopped believing! Hod reaches us through the love of people and animals and beauty..,but the good heart of people is God working through us!
I love that you started this positive sight! Just found it! ❤️❤️❤️👍
Hi Barbara, so glad you found us, and so beautifully said. Welcome to the YOM community. More miracles to you.
Yes Marci, I totally agree with you that little acts of random kindness , help us stay in the Miracle zone.
The weather had become unbearably hot. I kept a bowl of water near my kitchen window n bought millet grains to sprinkle on the window ledge. Hungry birds feed with delight. They find my vibes peaceful enough to dare to sneak in sometimes too.
I do believe I’m blessed
A tailor who I know hasn’t been keeping well n left the city to go to his village. I learnt he was having cataract operation. I just sent some money bcoz I felt it would come in handy.
Hi, Anuradha! I’m so happy to see you share your beautiful acts of kindness here with us. These are surely inspiring, and I hope you keep it up. More miracles to you!
Out of the blue,I got a call from a retired staff member, informing me that he was scheduled for a heart operation 2 days later. I could sense that he was scared n had convinced himself that he would die. So he was actually calling me to say goodbye one last time. Rather shocked, I knew that somehow immediately I had to get him out of his fearful n negative mindset. So I continued talking to him for 2 hours until I could see that he was relaxed n convinced that this operation 2 days later was going to give him a new life. N all of us were there to support him . He didn’t have to worry about anything.
My reward is that his operation was successful n now after a year, he has resumed work.
I was the Random Acts of Kindness facilitator where I lived 33 years. Little kindnesses are BIG!❣️
This night I when coming back home, I met two Sisters who never had transport to take them wherever they are to go so I decided to give them some my money to help out.
Am grateful for my kindness to them.
That’s a beautiful thing you did, Edmond! Keep listening to your kind, brave heart, miracles will follow. Much love!
That’s such a great role, Roz! I bet your community felt the big impact through your actions of kindness. Keep it going! Keep listening to your big, kind heart. <3
My closest friend, 95, and I, 84, took a three day trip to Washington DC on the Amtrak. We each packed a small carry-on roller bag because we have some difficulties in lifting and walking. From the time that we began the trip until it was over, it was like a miracle… People came from all around to help us get on the train get off the train, walk down a steep hill, get up the steps to the hotel. And this continued throughout the entire three days! It was one of the most memorable trips of my life(and I am fairly widely traveled) because of the many acts of kindness that people performed that day. It renewed my faith in people, and will stay in my heart forever.
Thanks for sharing that story with us, Lou! It shows how such small, kind acts cumulate to a miraculous journey for someone else. This is precious. More miracles to you!
I want to say that I go out community green market mostly every Sunday and there is an 83 year old gentleman who sells his own plants. He is very nice smart when it comes to plants etc.. so many purchase his plants . I personally think he sells them to cheap. But I started to get close with him. And I was in shock no SHOCK to see the condition of how this man was living it brought me to tears. My husband helped me set up a Zelle account ,go fund me. There were some vendors that helped out money wise. One would think to stay after and help him break down his setup. NOPE. It’s a really long story but it all started when I wrote about this on Nextdoor app. I had meet so many lovely people and are remaining friends with some. It takes a village.. I leaned so much about being a vet and how pretty bad your treated.. This man lives in the most horrific conditions still tending to his love of plants. I was able to get him a refrigerator, dorm size, microwave, new chair. He had no roof my husband and new friends from Nextdoor went and did the best they could to put several tarps cause when it rains it’s looking in the sky and waterfall. Bug infestation. 1000 roaches feel all over my husband it’s that bad. Like I said super long but I was able to raise this poor man 30,000 dollars through the kindness of others as well. Something inside said I must help this man.guess gotta stop.
Wow, Lynne! Thank you for sharing this incredible story with us. It goes to show how collective acts of kindness can transform a life. Lots of love and miracles to you.
I find that people are so amazed at even the smallest kindnesses. That always encourages me to look for more opportunities!
That’s so true, Suzie! They aren’t expecting kindness, especially for a stranger. So, keep at it and spread lovingkindness through such beautiful opportunities. More miracles to you!
Oh your story touched my heart. I am a big believer on being loving and kind to ourselves and to others. My simplest way of kindness is smiling at others even to strangers. We do not know what a person may be going through, a smile will always lift ones spirit.
That’s so true, Anna! We never know what a person might be going through and it’s such a good filter to use as we interact with others.
So beautiful and touching. Being kind and compassionate is a glow from within which passes on to others in the same form. Just be open to give and receive kindness. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story.
Recently, i boarded a flight and was feeling little uneasy. I requested attendant if i can get one sugar candy. She was not the one to manage the in flight food desk. So she took my seat no saying she’ll do what best she can. Within minutes of me settling in my seat, she came with a smile and pack of chocolate cookies, something sweet, too make me feel good. This was totally unexpected and get sheer act of kindness made me feel so good. Kindness is in the attitude in all the acts we do. I am thankful to her for her kindness
Such a sweet story, Hetal! Thanks for sharing it with us. It’s truly such small acts of kindness that bring more joy to the world we live in.
Beautiful stories shared.
I understand how small acts of kindness can light up the heart of another.
A teller at the bank yesterday, suggested a way I could start saving more money. Something I had never heard before. I thanked her.
When I turned to leave, she said “have a great rest of your day”. I said “you as well”. Then suddenly I turned back and said, “ you just made it even more so”. She lit up like a Christmas tree. It felt wonderful.
Beautiful, Cheri! Isn’t it amazing how we increase the vibrational energy of each other by just engaging in such heartfelt interactions?
I also was brought to tears by this story. Two days ago there was a lady walking ahead of me. She appeared to be having difficulty, moving slowly. I wondered if I should ask if I could help then she seemed to be better. I passed her. Then I turned around and asked her if she needed help. Yes, she did. She held my arm as she made the last few steps to her car. I felt so honored to offer that small act kindness.
You’re amazing, Lora! Please keep up these kind and caring acts, you never know how impactful they are, even for your miraculous journey! More miracles to you!

My heart was touched and tears of happiness for how the gift of listening and giving gave Hannah so much. A reminder to be kind to myself and listen to the calling of my heart.
That’s a beautiful takeaway, Sandra! Much love.
