Today’s Miracle Moment is about Activating the Light Within…

When I (Marci) was a little girl and we would celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, I used to love lighting the candles on the Menorah. I couldn’t wait to see all those candles lit; it was so much fun! I also used to love walking around the neighborhood with my parents and looking at all of the lights on the houses—it was beautiful and inspiring.

And when I (Sue) was a kid, I would watch my mom and dad string the lights on the Christmas tree, one branch at a time.

My mother took such care to make sure everything was precious and perfect. It was so heart-warming to see the glow of light on their faces. It stands out in my mind as one of the most wonderful memories of my childhood.

Maybe you’ve noticed that during the holiday season, our holiday traditions always include light. It’s really interesting because in the Northern hemisphere it’s the time of the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year. Yet, here we are with all of these lights shining brightly.

During this time of the year, it’s a wonderful opportunity for us to cultivate and activate our inner light.

Every culture in history has celebrated light during this time—whether it’s Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or other holiday traditions.

The celebration has always been around light because it’s the time of the year that we’re most able to access our deep light within. The planets, the stars, everything is aligning at this time to allow us to activate our inner light.

With the gift-giving, parties, and general frenzy of the season, it’s so easy to get focused on the external. Yet, it’s an auspicious time to take some moments to go inside and focus on your own light. As you do that, know that activating your light brings greater light to the world.

As this beautiful Chinese proverb says,

Our prayer and our wish for you, for your families, and for everyone is that we all feel that light within our own souls. When we do that, we help create more light on this planet of ours.

Happy Holidays with our love!
