How to Soften Anxiety and Reduce Stress

Today’s Miracle Moment Is About How to Soften Anxiety and Reduce Stress

Many people are experiencing fear and anxiety about all the events happening in our world these days. So we’re going to share a method to soften anxiety and reduce stress so that you can live more fully and constantly in the Miracle Zone–the place of synchronicities and flow, where you’re creating the conditions of your life for the miraculous to occur.

In the midst of whatever is happening in the world, it’s important to stay grounded in the Miracle Zone and keep your energy strong and clear. Living in the Miracle Zone doesn’t mean that you’re not going to worry, or that there are never any worries in the world. It means that instead, you’re going to choose wellbeing, and choose to thrive and grow even in the midst of uncertainty.

We do this by staying in the present moment. Worry transports us into the future. Fear and worry are ways of consciously imagining something in the future that you don’t want to happen. So that’s not where we want to spend our time!

The current reality is this present moment. If you can embrace appreciation and gratitude in the present moment, this will always help you to let go and release fears about the future.

Staying in the present moment doesn’t mean that you’re denying or ignoring any kind of feelings about the future, including anxiousness. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. It means that you’re coming present to what it is that you’re feeling. When you’re present to what’s real for you, you develop a sense of clarity, certainty, and groundedness that wasn’t there just a moment before.

And in that presence, you’ll find that there’s a sense of wellbeing that exists underneath what your mind is saying. It exists underneath all of the stories it’s writing and all of the bombardment that we’re getting from the outer world, especially during these times. All of it can fade away and you can recognize a version of who you are that is actually okay.

Once we acknowledge any feeling that we’re feeling, it starts to dissolve inside of this present moment. So we’re trading worrying about the future for this wonderful peace of mind that is found in this present moment now.

Here’s a practice for softening anxiety, reducing stress, and living more in the present moment:

Gently close your eyes, and take a breath into your belly and exhale. Take a deep breath in again and exhale. Bring all of your attention into your deep core, where your belly button is and just behind it and below it–right in there. And let go of the outer layers of your skin. The outer surface of your energy field–just let it soften–let it drop into the center of your brain, into your heart, and into this place deep in your core in your belly area and just be right there.

There’s nothing else to think about or to do, but to just focus there. Notice that there’s a calmness that comes upon you. And if it does not feel calm yet, drop in a little deeper with your focused attention. Breathe a little bit so that you can feel where you’re living from, down in the belly. Drop all of your attention to your belly and relax in the belly. Then breathe, inhaling and exhaling, inhaling and exhaling, and notice that there’s a stillness in here.

You can open your eyes slowly, but stay focused in this deep belly space. Stay present while keeping your eyes open. There’s the same sensation on the inside, but now you’re able to be present on the outside, keeping one part of your attention in this inner still presence. With another part of your attention, look around the room with the stillness and presence of being. You can engage in the outer world and be aware of what’s happening in this now moment while not leaving your awareness on the inside.

There’s a miraculous power in being present right here in this very moment. Because we’ve been habituated, it’s so easy to get anxious about the future and the things we can’t control. And it’s so vital to stay present for our own health and wellbeing.

We invite you to do this practice a few times over the next few weeks and see how different you feel in your life.

Love this stillness in the moment. It must begin on the inside to be present on the outside.

      Marci and Dr. Sue,
Heartfelt thanks for the Channel Breathing exercises you are teaching us . They are valuable beyond belief. While doing Mulah Bandah I was able to unlock a childhood block that I never knew existed. Shortly after I actually felt a new life force rush through me. It has given me a new energy, and sense of wellness I never thought possible. Once I master (we have to do the work.) the centering we learned today, it will enable me to stay calm in difficult situations.
Thank you to all the Angels that made this possible.

I do love how you present yourselves and what clear advice you give. The colour coordination, flowers, crystals, artwork, the whole shebang! I also appreciated that you did not use the word “mindfulness” in your presentation. My opinion is that the overuse of “mindfulness” causes confusion.
In 1971 in the UK, I met Guru Maharaji, (now Prem Rawat) who basically taught and modeled a practice of living in the present moment. His method was called Knowledge. I like your description as “living in the Miracle Zone”.
You two make living in the Miracle Zone seem like a jolly good idea.

Try adding a Course in Miracles to your life. It will only cost you buying the book and doing the lessons each day for 365 days. You might find reading the text as well would be greatly enlightening.
Persistence is very important in changing the mechanism of the programed ego mind from chaos to choosing inner peace. The Ego mind is very tricky.

      Bonjour, Erwan.
Vous dites: “…je n’ai rien essayé…” Lire, ecouter, apprendre, etc, mais: je me demande comment obtenir aucune effet sans essayer? Il faut essayer; il faut prendre action dans le monde, utilisant ce que nous avons appris.
      Cordialement,

My friend experienced a miscarriage after 9 weeks of pregnancy. The natural process is painful. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well.
I would appreciate guidance in the exact thought process she could adopt so that she stays positive and hopeful during future pregnancies enabling them to culminate in positive outcomes.
I truly do believe in being able to manifest what one desires, relying on the help of the law of attraction.
However, I’m not so sure my friend believes in it; belief is a very important and vital part in the manifestations.
    Do you have any suggestions?

I really appreciated the breathing. I am not quite there yet, but it has given me another tool to raise my energy and know I am safe.

Thank you, my biggest obstacle is changing my fear responses in my body and this morning after two years of study and living in love, it just showed up.

I love the Year of Miracles program and most of all your sincerity and desire for our healing and happiness.

    Thank you,

Thank you SO VERY MUCH!!! I needed this more than you know. Even though things are improving and we are moving forward I am feeling unsettled and ungrounded. I know to always go back to gratitude as I did this morning during my walk. Not enough. Needed to hear this message, sit deep and go within.
    Staying present 🎁. yay

I hear you Ruby- I’ve been struggling too- just resisting the whole process. But I am able to just close my eyes and focus on my breathing while counting-4 inhale, 4 hold, 4 exhale, 4 hold. And humming on the exhale. Do that 4 times and it’s just over a minute. Just breathing and counting- not trying to feel better or do anything- just be and just breathe. I hope this helps you – in any case it really helped me to write this out for myself. Namaste

Surely this must be a relatively common experience? It’s great to do the breathing but I’m not sure how many people truly resonate with it and so therefore are honest about it.

Thank you Marci and Dr. Sue.
I’ve learned this technique over and over, from Thich Nhat Hahn, from Eckhart Tolle and others, and still I forget when I get anxious. The difference this time is Dr. Sue taking us down into the belly. Anxiety is such a head-thing for me. This was a perfect reminder for since I have been anxious for the last two days. Going down into the belly takes me away from my head. Thanks Dr. Sue.

I’m addting to my previous comment. I love the way Dr. Sue adds a little bit more to a practice of meditation. That addition going down into the belly and out of my head, and breathing up from the earth, into the belly and out into the Universe and then breating down again. These breathing techniques incorporate the imagination as well as the breath and make all the difference for me in their effectiveness. Thanks so muc again, Marci and Dr. Sue.

Nice message but your video filters are too STRONG. It would be more authentic if you just looked natural, celebrate your age; we can all relate to moving up in years and wisdom. When you filter out every little blemish and have the auto “smooth” feature on so heavy it makes us all feel like we can’t be ourselves and that you’re hiding something. Be real! We will love you all the more for it 🙂

You can name it but only if you’re able to remain neutral and unattached to any meaning of “good” or “bad”. Being present with an absence of thought can work wonders.

    Love the reminder of:
“If you can embrace appreciation and gratitude in the present moment, this will always help you to let go and release fears about the future.”
It really helps me to shift my worry mindset into more calm, when I find and focus on something I appreciate in this moment and the next. It can be something I find beautiful in this very moment or something simple from yesterday, like the sun came out for a few moments or my phone works great etc. Combined with slow deep belly breathing it really helps me to calm my anxiety. And there are many moments to practice 😉 to get better at it.
    Thank you and Namasté 🙏

Marci and Dr. Sue: as always you are a source of light, comfort and inspiration. Similar to others, I’ve been feeling a sense of anxiety and worry about current issues … and yet, this is the first time I’ve felt this way since starting your program, which has been powerful. I know the worry will pass … most of all, this exercise (along with others you’ve shared) provides a tangible way not to “live above our shoulders” but rather get grounded in the core of our body. The power is in the present, isn’t it? Thank you and namaste indeed! Shelly
